EnergyUnited is asking all members to conserve energy today as the cooperative prepares in advance of record heat levels that will be noticed throughout its 19-county service area. The electric cooperative is asking members to be cognizant of their energy use today as temperatures begin to rise to record levels.
“These unprecedented temperature levels are producing an increased demand which is an anomaly at this time of the year,” said EnergyUnited Chief Operating Officer John McMurray. “We do not expect our members to experience any subsequent service issues; however, we do believe that a call to conserve will further ensure our ability to continue providing reliable, high-quality service.”
The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures to rise as high as 99 degrees in parts of EnergyUnited’s service territory today, but the record temperatures will be noticed by all co-op members. Therefore, all members are encouraged to take simple measures, like adjusting thermostat settings or waiting until later in the evening to use major household appliances, which will help reduce energy use.
