ENERGYUNITED FOUNDATION DONATES $5,000 TO BARRY L. JOYCE LOCAL CANCER SUPPORT FUND

STATESVILLE, N.C. – The EnergyUnited Foundation recently donated $5,000 to the Barry L. Joyce Local Cancer Support Fund to provide critical assistance for cancer patients in Rockingham County.

“No other organization offers the same level of support for cancer patients in Rockingham County,” said Jennifer Joyce, executive director of the Barry L. Joyce Local Cancer Support Fund. “We appreciate the continued generosity of organizations that offer critical support for our organization, like the EnergyUnited Foundation.”

The EnergyUnited Foundation provides assistance for individuals, families and nonprofit organizations within its 19-county service area. The Foundation has been especially considerate of the impact of COVID-19 on each nonprofit organization’s fundraising efforts.

“We are proud to be a supporter of the Barry L. Joyce Local Cancer Support Fund,” said EnergyUnited Foundation Administrator Debra Citta. “The pandemic has made it more difficult for the Cancer Support Fund and other nonprofits to hold fundraising events, but the Foundation believes this donation will help the organization continue it’s critical operations until fundraising activities can resume to their normal, pre-pandemic levels.”

The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded nonprofit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. Nearly 90,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these small contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families, and essential nonprofit organizations that complete an application explaining the reason and purpose for their requested grant.
