ENERGYUNITED REPORTS STEADY PROGRESS AS MULTI-DAY POWER RESTORATION EFFORTS PROCEED

STATESVILLE, N.C. EnergyUnited crews have worked tirelessly throughout the day to restore power to members affected by the catastrophic damage from Tropical Storm Helene. As of this evening, steady progress has been made, with thousands of members having power restored. Crews will continue to work to make extensive repairs across the service area for members who are still without power.

Members can track estimated restoration times for their area by visiting the cooperative’s outage map. As restoration efforts proceed, members who choose to make other arrangements can check their service status using My EnergyHub or by dialing 1-800-EUNITED using the primary phone number registered on their account.

We are making steady progress restoring power and will continue to work relentlessly to restore power to all members who were affected by Helene,” said Steve McCachern, vice president of energy delivery for EnergyUnited. “We appreciate the ongoing efforts of our crews, and also the support we received today from mutual aid crews who arrived from Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.”

EnergyUnited is bringing in additional crews tomorrow to further bolster restoration efforts across its service area. These reinforcements will allow the cooperative to cover more ground to restore power to members safely and efficiently.

As the cooperative’s multi-day restoration effort proceeds, additional public safety information can be found at readync.gov. Local road closures can also be found by visiting drivenc.gov.

Important Safety Reminders:

Avoid flooded areas: Do not walk through standing water near electrical equipment, as it could present an electrocution hazard. Stay clear of any flooded areas around EnergyUnited’s equipment.

Stay away from downed power lines: Always assume any downed line is energized and dangerous. Report these sightings immediately to EnergyUnited or local emergency services.

Use generators safely: Ensure generators are placed outdoors and far from windows, doors, and vents to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Never connect a generator directly to your home’s wiring, as this can cause backfeeding, which poses serious risks to linemen and field personnel.
