STATESVILLE, N.C. – The EnergyUnited Foundation awarded $105,087.51 in the month of September to nonprofit organizations, individuals, households and families. The Foundation has now awarded approximately $600,000 to communities across the cooperative’s service area in 2023.
EnergyUnited recently hosted check presentations in recognition of the Foundation’s two nonprofit donations to The Foundry House and Helping is Simply Caring. The Foundry House is a transitional recovery house in downtown Statesville. Helping is Simply Caring is a new non-profit home care agency providing in home care to aging adults in Iredell and Alexander County. Simply Caring provides care to the aging population receiving governmental assistance such as the Iredell Council on Aging clients, Veterans, and Medicaid clients.
“The Foundation is on track to surpass its previous record for donations in a single year, thanks to the commitment of our board and a new convenient, digital application process,” said Debra Citta, program coordinator for the EnergyUnited Foundation. “We are proud to serve and support cooperative communities with each of these donations to individuals, households, families and nonprofit organizations.”
The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded non-profit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. Nearly 85,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families, and essential nonprofit organizations that complete an application explaining the reason and purpose for their requested grant.
